My response to SHIfT happens

In Shift happens, the movie seems to create a sense of nervousness and scariness. The movie speaks of the advancement of technology and how the United States isn't as explosive as the stereotype seems to be. In this movie, everything Hollywood has put on screen is being born now, in the 21 first century.

The First quote that jumped out at me was this: "There are 1300 people just like you".This quote mentioned China. In China there are 1300 people just like me, and it seems very uncomfortable because I'm a very boring person and there will be walking Zombies. The quote doesn't literally mean exactly like me, but academically like me, and has the same lifestyles.

The second quote that had an affect was this: "China will be soon become the number one English speaking country in the world". This quote intrigued me, because English in China is second language. Its kind of sad, because English is our dominant language, and we kind of suck at it.

The third quote that jumped out at me was this: " We are currently preparing students for jobs that don't exist yet." This quote has a lot of mystery in it because the jobs that don't exist yet may be very life changing. I am very curious as well because, how much will these people get paid, what kind of technology will they be using. How much will this stuff affect there families, and what if they have to be silent, because it is so top secret. I feel more interrogative then freaked out, because its something coming soon!

Info on Picnik.com

Many people seem to enjoy taking pictures and viewing them. One thing however is most photo editor programs are out of the ball park expensive! There is however a website that is free to anyone to use. As long as you make a profile. The site is easily used and very affective. However there are costs to using the free websites. There is a premium sampler, which costs $24.95 to use yearly. Not bad, but it costs. Here's the hyperlink:http://www.picnik.com/

This is an example of what a picture I chose to edit. It is and fun at the same time.

This website seems to be of great help because you could alter the photo. Making it bigger or smaller, fatter or skinier. You can add snow to your picture, or make it a classic photo. In many ways this website is woth the time.
There were many things that impressed me on this website. A cool thing was making the picture look like some sort of high colored painting. All colors were bright. Also you were able to make the photo into neon lights. It was awesome. The neon light made the picture look like it was actually done in real life.

Although there are a few negatives to this webware. One thing that tied my knickers in a knot was how majority of the effects cost money. The website was limited. The premium sampler for example, you couldn't use it unless you paid an extra $24.95 to use the product. However it would be worth the payment once every 12 months. Another thing that was knicker knotting was the confusing color effects. how one slide bar would not do anything, but another would alter the picture completely. Those were my two biggest dislikes of the websites.

Of course in internet, there are lots of other photo workshops. Many of course are advertising as free. As a consumer, you have to read between the contract. It'll ask for credit card numbers, and you end up paying for something in the end. Here are a couple of high pirced photoshops.

With these two websites, they all have amazing software, however, in my book, its not worth as much, because I could pay $24.95 for one year, one payment, and get these same exact tools as these other competitors. Picnik.com is free, unless you want more cooler offers, which is still cheaper.

Here are a couple of positive reviews on Picnik.com:

Written by Elizabeth West:Picasa was the first online editing software that I heard people rave about, but I was left out of the fun; I couldn’t use it from my Mac. I still can’t, because I haven’t upgraded to 10.4, so I’ll never know what all the fuss was about. However, now I can play with Picnik.com, so I’m a happy camper.
Although Picnik is still in Beta, most of the time you wouldn’t know it. The site, which is powered by Flash, smoothly performs many of the tasks that most users want from a photo editor. Furthermore, these tasks are logically organized.
When you first visit Picnik, you are faced with four large tabs: Your Photos, Edit, Creative Tools, Save & Share.

With Picnik you can quickly edit all your online photos from one place. It's the easiest way on the Web to fix underexposed photos, remove red-eye, or apply effects to your photos. One-click photo fixing or in-depth tweaking; crop, rotate, and resize in real-time; tons of special effects, from artsy to fun; works directly with many photo sharing sites.

You could read both of the these articles by clicking on the links.

This is one of the many pictures I used on Picnik.com. The tiger was originally white with colored background. I changed it into a softer classical look, with the color red hinted into it. Seeing as red is the cooler color then most.

Its really easy to do. Of course. its fun as well.

For me picnik.com is by far a good website to use. I plan to use it in my near future. This website gets my thumbs up!

Web 1.0 vs. 2.0

Web 1.0

The cool thing about today's technology is the many uses of the web. For a while there we had Web 1.0. Web 1.0 in very simplistic words was boring. You were only allowed to read it. You couldn't really give feedback if it was published on the web. It was there just to simply use for information.

With Web 1.0 people were considered to be consumers. We were unable to do anything. If we wanted to have fun with the Internet we would have to buy Photo shop or Microsoft Word. many of the advances that came out, we would spend just to get the latest advancements. In a way it seemed that we weren't as powerful as we considered ourselves to be.

Web 1.0 used the computer itself as a the platform. Causing everything to be saved on a disk or floppy. In clear context, Web 1.0 isn't as fascinating as it was supposed to be.

WEB 2.0

Web 2.0 however is the hippest party 24/7. Your allowed to publish things to the web and acquire advice through the Web you published it, people are able to give you feedback on your work. many people seem to take advantage of this possibility because other people might know a little more then you, and they'll be able to give them more information without rewording everything else.

"Web 2.0 is a revolutionary view of the Internet and the social and business uses of advanced technologies rather than the technical aspects of those technologies. The core concept of Web 2.0 is: Use Internet as a platform and leverage network effect to harness the collective intelligence in a cost-effective manner" I grabbed thies quote from http://www.sizlopedia.com/2007/08/18/web-10-vs-web-20-the-visual-difference/http://www.sizlopedia.com/2007/08/18/web-10-vs-web-20-the-visual-difference/

Web 2.0 refers to the name of the World Wide Web from a collection of websites to a full-length computing platform serving web applications to end users. The mastermind of this thinking expect that ultimately Web 2.0 services will replace desktop computing applications for many purposes. Many of these purposes will lodge the way people surf the web and the information they receive.http://ashkev.weblogs.us/archives/229

There are 3 websites that allow you to create websites such as being able to collaborate with anyone and also create information blocks.

WEB 3.0

Web 3.0 is a highly specialized information gadget, moderated by a film of personality, controlled by the community, and put into context with the inclusion of meta-data through widgets.Web 3.0 is a return to what was great about media and technology before Web 2.0: recognizing talent and expertise, the ownership of ones words, and fairness.

Web 3.0 is a term used to describe the future of the World Wide Web. Following the introduction of the phrase "Web 2.0" as a description of the recent evolution of the Web, many technologists, journalists, and industry leaders have used the term "Web 3.0" to hypothesize about a future wave of Internet innovation.
Views on the next stage of the World Wide Web's evolution vary greatly. Some believe that emerging technologies such as the Semantic Web will transform the way the Web is used, and lead to new possibilities in artificial intelligence. Other visionaries suggest that increases in Internet connection speeds, modular web applications, or advances in computer graphics will play the key role in the evolution of the World Wide Web.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_3
